Metatarsal Guard boots and shoes

A Metatarsal Guard is an appliance added to footwear designed to provide additional protection to the instep area. A Met Guard is traditionally used in areas where there is a higher risk of objects falling or rolling onto the instep of the worker’s foot. Met Guards are available in external and internal styles depending upon the specific work environment. Metatarsal protective footwear meets the ASTM F2413-05 Class 75 requirement for impact and compression. Subsequent to meeting those performance requirements, the height of the wax form used to measure metatarsal protection shall be a minimum of 25.4 mm (1.0 in.) for men’s footwear and 23.8 mm (0.937 in.) for women’s footwear after exposure of impact energy of 101.7 J (75 fl-lbf).
